More Habits of the Highly Effective Inbound Marketer
Now that you’ve started to incorporate inbound marketing principles into your business, here’s a few more habits that you should be building.
1. Read and React
Being able to see what’s working for you and what’s not is a huge part of marketing your business online. Without tracking software and analytics you are in the dark when it comes to your web presence. Would you allow a sales person to continually go about their job in way that was unsuccessful? Likely not. A website is really another sales person for your business; if you aren’t able to track your successes and failures, you’re just dumping money into a pit.
2. Try New Things
I’m sure you’ve noticed, but the internet is full of junk. Don’t be afraid to step out on the ledge a little bit. If you’re a lawyer, I’m not suggesting you market yourself like Axe body spray, but do something different. Be sure to set your analytics before you start trying new things so you can revisit ‘habit number 1’ and do more of what’s working and less of what’s not.
3. Take Baby Steps
You aren’t going to be the next big internet brand sensation overnight. Even if that isn’t your goal, you may not see many successes right away (even though it does happen occasionaly, right Wharton Interior Design!).
If you want to have 5,000 followers on Twitter, start by connecting, I mean really engaging and connecting, with 10 people. Those 10 people will become a spokesperson for you. Again, you read and react to what’s working and what not. Soon you’ll have hundreds or even thousands of people sharing your message. We’ve all seen the power of word of mouth in business; social media increases its power exponentially.
