Most pages are built as needed

A page gets created, a layout gets picked, sections get moved around until it works. The next page starts the same way. Over time, similar pages stop lining up. They still work, but they don’t match. That’s when updates slow down and small changes turn into rework.

1

Working with Modules

A base template is chosen each time a page is created. Modules are moved and rearranged until the page works. Similar pages end up with different structure and flow. Updates take longer because the layout is reworked.

2

Working with Layouts

The page layout is set once for a page type. Each new page follows that layout, so similar pages look and flow the same. Content can be updated without changing the layout, so updates don’t turn into page rebuilds.

Start with key pages

You don’t need to define every page layout at once. Consider starting with one or two page types that most pages will use. This sets the page layout standards, without committing to a full redesign.

1

One or two key page types

Focus on one or two page types that your core pages will use. The layout is set once and used on similar pages. It's easier to adopt, easier to maintain, and sets the standard for website page layouts going forward.

2

Website redesign approach

Handled as part of a full redesign, where layouts are defined across the entire site at once. It can work, but often requires more time, higher upfront cost, and a larger commitment before anything is put into use.

Great for new and existing sites

This is included when a new site is set up, so key page layouts are defined from the start. It is also used on existing sites when a specific page type needs a clearer layout. In both cases, the goal is the same: set the layout once so similar pages follow it.

1

New website setup

Layouts are defined for key page types at the start, so new pages follow a consistent structure right away. There is no need to revisit layout decisions later, and a clear standard is set early.

2

Existing site updates

Layouts are added where a page type needs it, so new pages follow a defined structure. Existing pages can be updated over time, improving consistency without a full rebuild.

Set the layout once.

Define the page layout for a key page type so similar pages match and updates don’t turn into big rework projects.

1

Migration into standard templates

Content is migrated into standard templates for blog, system, and general pages. These cover the bulk of the site and and continue to support those page types without additional work.

2

Migration into a Brand Template

Critical website pages are migrated into a tailored Brand Template for that page type, so the layout is set for those pages and used consistently moving forward.

What Brand Templates don't change

Standard templates remain in place for blog, system, and general pages. This only applies to the page types where layout matters. It does not remove flexibility. It removes repeated layout decisions.
